Charlie, who was Young Scottish Chef of the Year in his heyday, came here via the Marine Highland Hotel on Royal Troon Golf Course, Claridges, Gleneagles and the Savoy, an awesome pedigree by anyone’s standards. A varied traditional menu is always available, but it is no coincidence that since Charlie’s arrival his expertise and flair combined with Karen our second chef have transformed the food side of the business using locally sourced ingredients wherever possible and lots of imagination.

In the Bar

A full range of beverages are available at the bar from morning coffee, afternoon tea to a wide range of beers including favourites like Greene King IPA, along with two monthly rotating Ales from our local Craft Brewers including Adam Henson’s Butcombe Rare Breed. A wide range of quality spirits are available along with a collection of 15 single malts. The usual draught ales are also on tap including Guinness, Carlsberg Extra Cold & San Miguel. Cider is a permanent fixture in our country pub with a choice of FIVE including Harry Sparrow & Suffolk Ciders both made by Aspall, Strongbow, Magners, Cotswold Cider, Dunkertons Organic Cider & Kopparberg.

Interesting Fact: Did you know that many years ago in our pub, customers had a whistle baked into the rim or handle of their ceramic cups. When they needed a refill, they would simply whistle to get some service. “Wet your whistle” is the phrase inspired by this practice, however we now use high quality glassware

4 STAR RATING Our B&B consists of four well appointed comfortable rooms, above the pub, which are suitable for short stays, weekend breaks or even long-term accommodation. Earth Summit is our superior Kingsize en suite room with enough space for up to 2 adults and 2 children. Mrs Muck is a cosy en suite double room and Grange Brake, also a cosy double with a separate private bathroom (not en suite). Bindaree, an en suite twin/double room in our cosy annex, has recently been extended to allow for disabled guests. (3 of the rooms are directly above our bar area, and although we’ve installed acoustic noise reduction underlay, on occasions, noise can be heard.
