Karen, our fantastic head chef has been cooking at The Hollow bottom for over 17 years. Working alongside Charlie (now retired) formally of Marine Highland Hotel and Claridges, Karen honed her skills and now fully in charge she is putting all of her passion and enthusiasm into continuing to create a varied traditional menu with a few twists including an Octopus and Tiger Prawn Linguine & Water Buffalo Steak in a pink peppercorn sauce, served with a truffle mash and wilted spinach, but mainly using locally sourced ingredients wherever possible and a lot of imagination.

In the Bar

A full range of beverages are available at the bar from morning coffee, afternoon tea to a wide range of beers including favourites like Greene King IPA, along with two monthly rotating Ales from our local Craft Brewers including Adam Henson’s Butcombe Rare Breed. A wide range of quality spirits are available along with a collection of 15 single malts. The usual draught ales are also on tap including Guinness, Carlsberg Extra Cold & San Miguel. Cider is a permanent fixture in our country pub with a choice of FIVE including Harry Sparrow & Suffolk Ciders both made by Aspall, Strongbow, Magners, Cotswold Cider, Dunkertons Organic Cider & Kopparberg.

Interesting Fact: Did you know that many years ago in our pub, customers had a whistle baked into the rim or handle of their ceramic cups. When they needed a refill, they would simply whistle to get some service. “Wet your whistle” is the phrase inspired by this practice, however we now use high quality glassware

4 STAR RATING Our B&B consists of five well appointed comfortable rooms, which are suitable for short stays, weekend breaks or even long-term accommodation. Our three rooms above the pub include Earth Summit, our superior Kingsize en suite room with enough space for up to 2 adults and 2 children. Mrs Muck – a cosy en suite double room and Grange Brake, also a cosy double with a separate private bathroom (not en suite). Our final two rooms are anexe rooms. Bindaree, an en suite twin/double room in our cosy annex, has recently been extended to allow for disabled guests. The Old Studio is a newly done up studio cosy double en-suite situated in the lovely garden next door. (3 of the rooms are directly above our bar area, and although we’ve installed acoustic noise reduction underlay, on occasions, noise can be heard. The others are located next to the beer garden and on occasions noise can be heard.) Accommodation Facilities:
